His first start is Wednesday. If Zito can keep it together, the Giants will have a pretty solid 4 starters. Randy Johnson is hoping to come back and pitch relief sometime in September...they could make a decent playoff team now.
As mo said it's not really that he'll turn it around, but the same pitches that were getting hammered in the AL EAST will look like great pitches in the NL WEST.
I'd probably rather have Penny than Smoltz and he has been just fine in the NL
Its a good pickup IMO, Giants pitching has variety and strength. If they can get some production from Garko and get Sanchez back soon they will be the most dangerous team to face in a short playoff series.
