Why did Ball St go from -3 (open) to +3?

Re: Why did Ball St go from -3 (open) to +3?

I'm not sure either...Both teams lost their last game. Balls QB had the flue and played like shit...Tulsa got their asses dominated by ECU's Defense. My early lean was Ball St. but this line movement might make it a no play.

Re: Why did Ball St go from -3 (open) to +3?

The uncertainty of the coaching staffs, I'd say played a factor. Ball St. lost their coach, but didn't Tulsa's OC take the same job at Auburn ? Who knows what this does to the players, not to mention the preparation for this game. If the BSU players like the interim guy & want him to get the HC job, they'll likely play their hearts out for him. Gun to my head, I'd roll with Ball St, despite the big line movement to support the Tulsa side.

Safest bet is probably the under, & given the season to see these offenses, that isn't assured....

GMAC Bowl: Ball State (12-1) vs. Tulsa (10-3)

By Paul Myerberg
This game, despite pitting two teams who lost in their respective conference championship games, will provide a nice aperitif for the B.C.S. title game on Thursday. Ball State, which is having the best season in team history, will attempt to rebound from its potentially debilitating loss to Buffalo. Oh, and they?ll do it without the help of Coach Brady Hoke, who headed West to the sunny beaches, beautiful co-eds and reclamation project of San Diego (State). Tulsa, winners of 20 games in the past two seasons, lost to East Carolina in the Conference USA championship game. But while the quest for redemption is an intriguing storyline for both teams, it?s the offense that should grab your attention. Tulsa is second in the nation in both scoring (47.4 points per game) and yardage (565.1 per game); Ball State features one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Nate Davis.
Ball State
Ball State may have won 12 games in the regular season ? its best finish ? but it enters the GMAC Bowl on its heels. On the field, the Cardinals lost to Buffalo in the MAC championship, ending their slim hopes for the B.C.S. and slapping a sour note onto an otherwise memorable season. Off the field, the program is dealing with the transition to a new head coach after Brady Hoke?s decision to accept the open position at San Diego State. In an effort to maintain a sense of continuity, a smart move by the athletic department, the university tabbed offensive coordinator Stan Parrish as Hoke?s replacement. The good news: Parrish went 42-3-1 at Division III Wabash College (1979-82) and 13-8-1 at Marshall (1984-85). The bad news: He went 2-30-1 at Kansas State (1986-88). The coaching change raises the question of the junior quarterback Nate Davis?s future. A three-year starter, he may choose to enter the N.F.L. draft in lieu of returning to Muncie, Ind. for his senior season.

Tulsa
The Golden Hurricane (don?t ask, I don?t get it either) finished with 10 wins for the second straight season, a program first. In all fairness, Coach Todd Graham, who took the Tulsa job in 2007 after one season at Rice University, inherited a team in better shape than did his predecessor, Steve Kragthorpe, now the coach at Louisville. Nevertheless, his successful stint (20-7 over two seasons) has earned him both national recognition and a fat 10-year contract extension. After signing a similar extension (five years) at Rice, mere months before bolting for Tulsa, will Graham stick around? Better yet, will the double-digit win streak continue without co-offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, who left to take a similar position at Auburn? Auburn fans (and curious, nervous Alabama fans) should take a look at the potent Tulsa offense, because Malzahn is going to try and make it work in the SEC ? this time, without Houston Nutt?s nosiness. Keep an eye on the senior quarterback David Johnson, who threw for 3,866 yards and 43 touchdowns in his lone season as the starter.

Bowl Pick ?Em
Pete: Tulsa. Both staffs are in turmoil. As is my own well being, as I?m quite excited to watch this game.
Thayer: Tulsa. A bailout for both teams? once-promising seasons. Thanks GMAC.
Paul: Tulsa. Ball State, a team in flux, will lose its second straight.
Fred: Tulsa. Ball State had a great season, but it hasn?t seen an offense like Tulsa?s. Not many people have.
Connor: Ball State. I still think there?s some magic left.

Re: Why did Ball St go from -3 (open) to +3?

FYI

The offensive coordinater for Ball State is now the head coach with a 4 year deal so there shouldn't be any changes on offense. Good or Bad!

The offensive coordinater for Tulsa left for the job as assistant at Auburn. Their head coach is solid and you won't see much of a change in offense either Good or Bad!

Oh, and the weather is supposed to be wet and windy tonight in Alabama.

Oh, and the weather is supposed to be wet and windy tonight in Alabama.

Severe thunderstorms are possible as well, so could have a lightning delay or two

Wind looks to be straight down field, so one team is gonna have it gusting at it's back and the other gusting into their faces
